Immediately after stealing a suitcase at the Miami International Airport, Fred Frenger (Alec Baldwin) is approached by a Hare Krishna devotee (Edward Saxon) who tries to sell him a book. Frenger's reaction is to murder the devotee by bending his fingers back!

According to https://thedissolve.com/reviews/1545-..., the movie is true to the Charles Willeford crime novel that it's based upon. The article states, "His books are dark, funny, and strange, in ways that defy expectation; and though they’re packed with incident, their plots don’t follow familiar paths. Out of the many novels that Mr. Willeford has written, only 3 have been made into movies, and out of those 3, only Miami Blues has been made available on Blu-ray (so far).
